Stephany G.

  • Stephany was a 7th-grade bilingual Puerto Rico student at the National Academy Foundation (NAF) Middle School. She came to the United States for the first time in June of 2015.
  • In September 2015, MJAllen Ministries, LLC, donated a laptop to help her advance her education.
  • Emily B, a bilingual Dominican-American student from NAF High School, was asked to be the translator for Stephany. During the 7th grade 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter, her English Language Arts, Math Common Core State Standard, Life Science, and Science Technology were marginal to borderline. World Geography was below average. Choral Music fluctuated between average to above, and advanced, and Physical education above average.
  • Despite the American education system and adjusting to the language barrier, Stephany continued NAF through the 8th grade and made marked improvement. Stephany joined Raising the Bar2  (an English Language Arts unit of MJAllen Ministries, LLC). Along with the extraordinary support from teachers at NAF, through self-discipline, determination, self-motivation, she adjusted at a rapid pace to the nuances of courses in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Language), Language Arts Intervention, English Language Arts, Math CCSS (Common Core State Standards), Science, U.S. History, and Physical Education.
  • During the NAF 8th Grade Closing Ceremony Class of 2021, Stephany gave the Pledge of Alliance in Spanish. Milestones she achieved were receiving a Certificate of Achievement – Champ Award in Math, Certificate of Achievement – Top Scholar in Language Arts, and the NAF Diploma.

  •  During the 9th grade (2017-2018), MAllen Ministries, LLC, provided remote services and continued to mentor, coach, tutor, and teach Stephany after moving out of state.  The 9th-grade year was divided between The Helen Thackston Charter School in the state of Pennsylvania (which was scheduled to close in 2018 permanently) and the latter half in the Dominican Republic.  Stephany's overall improvements in the English language exceeded expectations, and her teachers and school administrators took notice.
  • After transitioning in the 10th to Tomas Maso Rivera Morales High School, in Puerto Rico, Stephany continued to demonstrate excellence. She fluctuated between over average of 88.8 (B+) and 91 (A-), qualifying her to earn a Principal's honors certificate (November 1, 2019).
  • Stephany desires to become a doctor either in anesthesiology, gynecology/obstetrician, or trauma nurse. As a result, she has pushed the excellence bar higher.
  • In her Junior year at Tomas Maso Rivera Morales High School, Stephany exceeded expectations once again. She ended the school year, earning a 96 (Spanish II), 90 (Trigonometry), 98 (English II), 98 (American History), 91 (Chemistry), 97 (Health), and 99 (Dance).  Her overall average was 95.571, and a Grade Point Average of 3.92.
  • During the Senior years, Stephany has set a goal of earning a Grade Point Average of 4.0.
  • Stephany sets goals for many reasons, as outlined at https://personalexcellence.co/blog/why-set-goals/ (7 Important Reasons Why You Should Set Goals).
  • Due to Stephany attending first half of 9th grade in USA and the second in the Dominican Republic, there was an impact on her 12th grade GPA.  The accumulative GPA included averages from 9th through 11th grades.
  • Stephany graduated with honors and a 3.50 GPA.
  • Stephany will be entering Loyola University Maryland in the fall of 2022.
  • We proudly announce that Stephany completed the Freshman year at Loyola (Spring 2023), and will enter the Sophomore Year (Fall 2023).
